Telco Together supports SecondBite whose work supports food security and food services for the homeless and other communities in need. SecondBite rescues and redistributes fresh, nutritious food to over 1,200 community food programs across Australia. Since 2005,SecondBite has redistributed over 20 million kilograms of food, enough to provide 40 million meals for people in need.

Redistributing Fresh Surplus Food
Surplus fresh food is donated by growers, retailers, distributors, caterers and from public events. This food is redistributed to community food programs that support Australians in need, including people experiencing homelessness, women and families in crisis, youth at risk, indigenous communities, asylum seekers and new arrivals.
SecondBite's Key Achievements & Stats
Since 2005, SecondBite has rescued over 20 million kilograms of surplus fresh food, enough for 40 million meals
SecondBite's food rescue has saved the equivalent CO2 emissions used by 919 flights from Melbourne to Perth; energy wasted leaving one television on for 1.245 years; or water saved that would fill 39 fifty meter Olympic swimming pools.
In FY 2014/15, SecondBite rescued over 6.7 million kilograms of fresh food, resulting in the following;
- Provision of more than 13 million nutritious meals for people in need
- Saved 40.7 million kilowatts of energy, equal to 8,305 years of leaving TV on
- Saved 502 million litres of water, equal to 268 Olympic 50m swimming pools
- Saved 40.7 million kilograms of greenhouse gases (CO2 equivalents), equal to 6,242 flights from Perth to Melbourne.
